Food relief- Donating food items to vulnerable families in Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kaloboyei Settlement.

Due to the recent humanitarian aids withdrawing their support at the camp because of funding challenges, there has been extreme food shortages in Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kaloboyei Settlement. Categorisation of refugees was introduced. Families falling under category 1 and 2 will receive little food while those falling under category 3 and 4 are forced to starve with little or no food.

Families including orphans, child led families, the elderly, single mothers taking care of disabled children and other vulnerable households are the ones that have been affected the most. The lack of jobs have even made it extremely harder to take care of their families.

We conducted a fundraiser to raise funds to donate food to these families at the refugee camp and with the help of everyone that donated, were able to donate food items to about 500 vulnerable families around Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kaloboyei Settlement.

This food donation is more than just a meal to these refugees. We showed them that they are not forgotten. We gave them hope and strength. Seeing the smiles on their faces and the endless gratitudes we received was heartfelt.

I would like to extend my gratitudes to everyone who donated and contributed, making this project a success. Everything was possible because of all your support and love. Let’s continue spreading love and kindness.

  • Shelter and housing- Aldo’s story.

    Shelter and housing- Aldo’s story.

During one of our random community survey, we met this gentleman by the name Aldo. Our attention was drawn to him when we saw the house he was living in. Aldo is a disabled individual with no family members. He lived in unimaginable conditions. The house he was living in was barely a shelter. It wasn’t a proper house. Brick walls that had already fallen down on one side, a roof that one side was old iron sheets and another side just covered with old blankets.

During windy seasons, Aldo fears the house might fall down, worst, fall on him while asleep. During rainy seasons, the house gets flooded and he doesn’t have a place to sleep for days. His situation is heartbreaking and he is just one of the many facing the same struggles.

For individuals like Aldo, living in such unsafe conditions can be very dangerous. Without proper shelter and adequate support their lives are at constant risk. Luckily, we changed that for him. We built Aldo a new shelter, a safe place to call home. Somewhere he can find his comfort rest with no fear.

There are still countless others living in such desperate conditions. We are committed to improving living conditions for vulnerable individuals within the communities and ensuring that no one is left behind.

    Education support- Juba Home Oprhanage

We had the incredible privilege of visiting Juba Home Orphanage. The orphanage is home to many young children, some orphans, some with no families and others with no homes to go to. They had the most beautiful smiles on their faces despite the challenges they go through.

The orphanage goes through a lot of challenges including; lack books and school supplies making it hard for the children to go to school, they lack basic essentials like food, clothes, feminine care and poor sleeping conditions. They sleep on the floors and they have no mattresses. All these makes the living condition hard for the children at the orphanage.

We were able to bring them few essentials- books, pens, feminine care and personal hygiene items, but most importantly, we shared laugh and laughter and gave them hope. These children deserve to go to school like any other child, they need the support in order to thrive. And most importantly, the orphanage still needs support.

We remain committed to supporting vulnerable children and ensuring we create a safe environment for them.

Education support- Donating books and school items.

As the new school term approaches, the Ukech Charity Foundation continues its mission to support education by donating essential books and school supplies to students in Kakuma refugee camp.

During a recent visit to one of the communities in the camp, our team engaged with students and parents ensuring that learners have the necessary materials to start the school year with confidence. The donation included books, pens, pencils, sanitary towel and other essential learning tools.

Education remains a beacon of hope for many refugee children facing challenges in accessing quality learning resources. By providing these supplies, the Ukech Charity Foundation aims to empower students, encourage learning, and ease the burden on families struggling to afford school materials.

We believe that every child deserves a chance to learn and build a brighter future. This initiative is just one of the many steps we are taking to make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable children in Kakuma.

Together, we can continue to support education for all children.

Launch day: The launching of Ukech Charity Foundation

Ukech Charity Foundation is proud to announce it’s official launch and we’re honoured to have started this journey with a project that warms our heart.

As we stepped into the Kakuma Refugee Camp, we were met with faces that reflected the harsh realities of hunger and scarcity. But we believe that everyone deserves a chance to experience the joy of the festive season, surrounded by love, warmth, and a full table.

That’s why we’re committed to help put an end to hunger, one meal at a time. Our first project was a humble yet powerful start. We were able to provide food supplies to 35 individual/families. The smiles and the gratitude we received were all testaments to the impact we can have when we come together to make a difference.

To everyone who contributed to making our launch a success, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your generosity, time, and effort have brought comfort to those who needed it most.

We invite you to join us in our mission to eradicate hunger and bring joy to those who need it most. Together let’s make a difference, one meal at a time.
